Mumineen I vs Mumineen II @ Jaycee Park

This was the game alot of people were waiting for, Mumineen I vs Mumineen II. The weather was up to par. A Hadith was given by Aleem Mustapha and shortly after the game was underway. Mumineen I had went in to bat. Openers, Iqbal & Zaheer went in to get the innings underway. Iqbal started his innings attacking the opposition from the first over hitting a boundary and a couple 2's. The next over, there was a miscommunication in running and a direct hit to the stumps from Azad finished Iqbal off early for 8. Aseef was the next batsman in. Soon after, Zaheer was bowled between the legs by Fazal. Mumineen I were in trouble soon. Shaheed then came in, and soon after, Aseef then perished being caught at long on. In deep trouble, Mumineen I was desperate for a partnership...and so it came. Shaheed and Faran put on a clinical partnership that may have saved Mumineen I. With just sloggers and lower order batsmen remaining, Faran and Shaheed made sure a decent score was on the board with enough wickets left to start charging the ball. After a massive showing of boundaries and sixes from both batsmen, Faran was departed for a useful 16. Shaheed brought his 50 up, his first for the Inter Jamaat League & the 2nd this season overall for Mumineen I. Mumineen I wickets started to fall quickly as Brian, Omar and Shaheed, who scored 59, fell within 2 overs. But later on, with some hard hitting from Adam and Quadir, Mumineen I lifted the score to 137/9 after their 20 Overs.

Mumineen II was set to chase 138 in 20 Overs to win. Openers, Fazal Deen & Afzal Ali was sent in to bat. Mumineen I started off with some wayward deliveries by Quadir and Brian, but still managed to keep the rate down. In Brian's first over, Afzal was dropped on 2 occasions, 1 being dropped at long off by Adam & 2 being dropped at mid-on by Aseef. Mumineen II started taking off as many wides was bowled by Brian and Afzal decided to take him on by hitting a big 6 and 4 from his over. Shaheed coming in to bowl, with Mumineen I under pressure, got Afzal to get caught behind for 15. Bud was the next batsmen in. He and Fazal formed a platform with their partnership to ensure victory. Bud was dropped early on in his innings by a tough catch from Brian. Aseef had stopped the flow of boundaries shortly, after bowling down Fazal for a well played 19. Kam was the next man in. Bud was then dropped again, this time by Adam again at long off. Another great partnership was formed by Mumineen II as Mumineen I seemed to look beaten. Dropped catches, extras & overthrows came in a flurry of time, which made Mumineen II look like they had the game in the bag with plenty of wickets to spare. Kam was caught by Javed Lall for 13. By this time, Bud had gotten his 50 already. Javed Lall and Zaheer caused some problems scoring for Bud and Fazal Baksh towards the end of the innings. This pushed back Mumineen II, and had forced them to score 10 off the last over to win. Shaheed came in to bowl the last over. The over began with 2 dot balls, exactly what Mumineen I wanted. Then a 2 was hit. With Mumineen II needing 8 from 3 to win now, the pressure was on for the batsmen. A single was taken. Then another 2. 5 was needed from the last ball to win and Fazal Baksh was on strike. He could only manage to get a single and Shaheed had bowled Mumineen I into victory. This was a very close encounter. Mumineen I had seem to take Mumineen II too lightly and almost gave the game away. Bud finished with a great score of 56 not out. Mumineen I gets away with another one to go 3-0 this season. They will have to work on their fielding skills and bowling in order to beat the strong and reinforced Alliance next week.

Mumineen I Vs. Unity @ Southridge 2

This was the first game that was actually played this season by Mumineen I. It was a hot morning at Southridge Park and players were feeling the heat before the game had begun. Unity captain, Javed Mohammed, had spun the toss with Quadir and won it. He decided to field first, which was a odd because Mumineen I was a much stronger side batting first than chasing. A possible reason could've been for Mumineen I to field in the hotter weather that was coming. After the toss, a short Hadith was given, which is required before every game, and the match was underway. Mumineen I openers, Zaheer and Hazo, came in and had a slow start after the first few overs. They eventually started seeing the ball better and lifted the run rate quickly with their solid hitting. Zaheer was caught at deep mid-wicket trying to hook a short delivery over the fielders head. Next in, making his debut with Mumineen I, was Altab. Altab had a cool head batting, while Hazo was finding the boundaries with consistency. Both of them batted well in a very important partnership. Hazo was bowled for 45 by the first ball bowled by the Unity captain, Javed. A good partnership was set with a 69 run partnership by Altab and Hazo. Aseef was in next and made a quick 16. Mumineen I put up a score of 143/3 in their 20 Overs, with Altab leading a side to an excellent 60 not out.

A. Mohamed - 60*
S. Azeerulla - 45

Mumineen I had started off shaky with some of their bowling and fielding. Within the first 10 overs, there were 5 drops already, but they didn't get hurt by them. Unity had only 53/4 after their 10. Needing 91 runs to win off 60 deliveries, Mumineen I fielding was top notch from there and the runs were too much for Unity. Mumineen I bowled out Unity for just 67 runs and continued their undefeated streak to 7 in a row. The Man of the match with no doubt, was Altab Mohamed for scoring 60 not out and also taking 3 wickets bowling. Shaheed also did well by taking a wicket and 3 catches from 3 different places. He had a caught behind, a catch at mid-on and a caught & bowled. With this game, Mumineen I had shown rustiness from not playing a game since the All-Star Vs. Champions game. This weekend coming up will be the well anticipated match between Mumineen I & Mumineen II at Jaycee Park. In other news, Mumineen II lost this past Sunday against Alliance, who clearly had a stronger team. Alliance bowled out Mumineen II for 40. Alliance didn't take much time getting the runs as they lost only 2 wickets in their ininngs. Sultan's blitz made short work of Mumineen II.

Mumineen I Vs. Alliance @ Southridge 2

Mumineen I had an easy day with a walk over against Alliance. This lead the Mumineen I team to still being undefeated in this league. Sunday was also the season opener for Mumineen II and Unity. Mumineen II had lost the toss and Unity had sent them in to bat first. Unity had struck very quickly on the first ball by getting Mumineen II opener, Salim, out. Next was the Mumineen II captain, Kam Khederoo. Kam and Fazal Deen were at the crease and decided to slow the pace of the game down after the wicket. Both batsmen bat thru the opening bowlers and were at 44/1 after 10 overs. With both batsmen getting their eye in, they quickly started attacking the Unity bowlers. Fazal Deen was caught out for a well played 17. Next in was Fazal Baksh. Baksh came in and absolutely flipped the game over toward Mumineen II side. Fazal was caught out for 40 runs. It was a 47 run partnership in just 4 overs. Kam continued batting well until he was finally dismissed for a excellent 44. Mumineen II ended up with a score 134/6 after their 20 overs.

K. Khederoo 44
F. Baksh 40

Unity knew they had some work to do by going at 7 runs an over on a good bowling pitch. The Unity openers Faraaz and Shazad were seeing the ball well with loose deliveries from Rasheed and Jeff in their first few overs. Faraaz was eventually bowled by Rasheed. This lead to a massive collapse by Unity. Mumineen II had Unity in this game...until Shafayat was in. Shafayat and Shazad had an excellent partnership and picked off all the Mumineen II bowlers. They won the match by 3 wickets with a fantastic come back.
