This was the first game that was actually played this season by Mumineen I. It was a hot morning at Southridge Park and players were feeling the heat before the game had begun. Unity captain, Javed Mohammed, had spun the toss with Quadir and won it. He decided to field first, which was a odd because Mumineen I was a much stronger side batting first than chasing. A possible reason could've been for Mumineen I to field in the hotter weather that was coming. After the toss, a short Hadith was given, which is required before every game, and the match was underway. Mumineen I openers, Zaheer and Hazo, came in and had a slow start after the first few overs. They eventually started seeing the ball better and lifted the run rate quickly with their solid hitting. Zaheer was caught at deep mid-wicket trying to hook a short delivery over the fielders head. Next in, making his debut with Mumineen I, was Altab. Altab had a cool head batting, while Hazo was finding the boundaries with consistency. Both of them batted well in a very important partnership. Hazo was bowled for 45 by the first ball bowled by the Unity captain, Javed. A good partnership was set with a 69 run partnership by Altab and Hazo. Aseef was in next and made a quick 16. Mumineen I put up a score of 143/3 in their 20 Overs, with Altab leading a side to an excellent 60 not out.
A. Mohamed - 60*
S. Azeerulla - 45
Mumineen I had started off shaky with some of their bowling and fielding. Within the first 10 overs, there were 5 drops already, but they didn't get hurt by them. Unity had only 53/4 after their 10. Needing 91 runs to win off 60 deliveries, Mumineen I fielding was top notch from there and the runs were too much for Unity. Mumineen I bowled out Unity for just 67 runs and continued their undefeated streak to 7 in a row. The Man of the match with no doubt, was Altab Mohamed for scoring 60 not out and also taking 3 wickets bowling. Shaheed also did well by taking a wicket and 3 catches from 3 different places. He had a caught behind, a catch at mid-on and a caught & bowled. With this game, Mumineen I had shown rustiness from not playing a game since the All-Star Vs. Champions game. This weekend coming up will be the well anticipated match between Mumineen I & Mumineen II at Jaycee Park. In other news, Mumineen II lost this past Sunday against Alliance, who clearly had a stronger team. Alliance bowled out Mumineen II for 40. Alliance didn't take much time getting the runs as they lost only 2 wickets in their ininngs. Sultan's blitz made short work of Mumineen II.
